“Seavaigers” are travellers; explorers. So the title of Sally Beamish’s brilliant new concerto for folk fiddle and Scottish harp is a wonderful description of this entire concert – which begins with its roots in Bach, but ends with two of the world’s finest folk musicians striking out in a dazzling new direction. New music has never sounded so earthy, so inventive, and so gloriously enjoyable.
